THE MOMENTS THAT MAKE UP THE MOMENT

 

I titled this project “ the moments that make up the moment” because the goodbye letters that addicts write during recovery describe- the moments that make up the moment when they decided to get clean and or enter into recovery.

I am a recovering addict and I have been through both the traditional 12-step recovery process and I have been to rehab. Either one requires you at some point to write a “goodbye” letter to the substance that you were abusing as part of your recovery process. During rehab, typically because healthcare insurance limitations the addict is allowed 28 days in patient rehabilitation. Towards the end of that process they are required by the facility to write this “goodbye” letter in order to be viewed as having
